Continue provides coding assistance in an editor and a CLI. This configuration selects OpenAI Chat Completions.
Before you start
Complete the Quickstart: add credits, create a key, and copy a model ID from Marketplace. Choose a model with tool support for agent tasks. The example ID is claude-sonnet-5-5; replace it with your selection. Install the Continue extension.
Configure the tool
Edit your local configuration: ~/.continue/config.yaml on macOS/Linux, or %USERPROFILE%\.continue\config.yaml on Windows. Merge this model into your existing configuration.

UNUSED_API_KEY=sk-unused-...Choose unused.market in Continue's model selector. apiBase includes /v1; useResponsesApi: false keeps requests on /chat/completions. The example chooses a 4096-token output budget; lower it if your offer has a smaller maximum.
Verify the connection
Ask: “Say hello in one sentence without using tools.” Then open Analytics → Requests. Find the new request by time and model. A response and a matching row confirm that traffic reached your account. This checks the connection, not the quality of repository edits.
Limits and troubleshooting
Enable tool_use only for a model with tool support. The configuration assigns chat, edit, and apply roles. It does not configure embeddings or legacy Completions, which the gateway does not expose. If you see a Responses route error, check useResponsesApi.
| Symptom | Fix |

| Authentication error | Re-enter your unused.market key. |
| No usable offer | Check Marketplace, Routing, and the key's allowed models. |
| Credit or budget error | Check Credits and the key's monthly limit; reduce the output budget if needed. |
| Stream stops after output starts | Find the failure in Requests. A started stream is not retried on another offer. |
